Transmission requires a sender and a receiver with the ability to see, hear, and understand. All of these skills require practice in all of the areas you describe, along with some luck.
Openness and the ability to leave behind preconceived notions is especially hard to develop and keep! Watching a few classes at Hombu really shows how these preconceived notions can get in the way! Thanks for the reminders Duncan!
